Our aim is to provide high standards of care to improve our patients’ quality of life, by maximising the potential of the affected parts of the body. Every patient with a neurological disorder is affected differently, and therefore treatment provided will be tailored to the patients’ needs to help them improve their health. Neurological patients may have difficulties in walking, balance, co-ordination and every day activities. Neurological physiotherapists are specialised in treating a wide range of conditions.
Common conditions treated include Stroke, Acquired Brain Injury, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, peripheral nerve injuries, and many more. The main approaches to treating neurological disorders are known as Bobath (normal movement), The Carr and Shepherd (motor relearning), Signe Brunnstrom (Synergic pattern of movement) and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation.
In our practice, every patient is seen privately on a one-to-one basis by our specialist neuro- physiotherapist. The sessions involve assessment of the patient and then treatment plans would be produced. The aim of treatment plans are to try and make the patient as independent as possible in everyday tasks. We also give advice to the patient and their family on how to perform physiotherapy exercises correctly. This would enable the patient to safely conduct exercises at home. We also provide intensive rehabilitation services in patient’s own environment.
